This week we were asked to pick three of the social
networking tools provided in one of the websites under the module resources
tab. My top three social media tools
provided on the site were Blogs, Mobile, and Social Networking Sites. My reasoning behind this would be the convenience,
the accessibility, and the platforms themselves.
I picked blogs because I feel like if someone wanted to
learn about something or get personal feedback on a particular topic, a blog would
be a great way to find that information.
If someone wants reviews on movies, restaurants or how-to-do’s for
cooking, do-it- yourself projects, or just about anything, one can find that
specific information on a personal blog.
Another important social networking tool would be the
mobile. So many of us use our mobile
devices to connect nowadays, I rarely have time in my busy day to actually sit
down and research on my computer or any other device other than my cell
phone. If I cannot use my cell phone to
access a website or any other platform, I will more than likely overlook
it. It’s not that I’m lazy, quite the
opposite actually. I’m just rarely
stationary and I need my information to be just as mobile as I am, and I’m sure
many would agree with me.
The last social media tool I’d like to discuss would be
Social Networking Sites (SNS). Not only
are they easy to access, they are also multi-functional. There are so many different SNS available
right now. My two favorites would be
Facebook and LinkedIn. I appreciate the
fact that I can use Facebook to socialize with friends and family, find
entertainment, and also use it for networking.
On the other hand, there’s LinkedIn, which is specifically for
professional networking. I like to keep
that site more up to date than any of my other are because it has the most
potential for improving my future while the others are mostly for
entertainment.
